Borrowed

Multi-part interactive  installation
Interactive Installation
MAGNET NYU
Brooklyn, NY

“Borrowed” is an installation that relies on interactive technologies to explore the concept of appropriation. It is based on An Honest Ghost, a novel by Rick Whitaker entirelyconstructed of unedited sentences borrowed from over 500 books. These sentences were taken out of their original context and recycled into a mosaic of quotations. The books hanging in the installation are the actual books that Whitaker used to construct his piece.

“Borrowed” translates Whitaker’s allegorical work into a digital media landscape. Using projection mapping, sound and sculpture, “Borrowed” seeks to explore the idea of appropriation in contemporary aesthetic production
